Plumbers

How to contact a plumber or heating firm

Words for a leak and a heat pump, a message in German and French, and the rule that a building-programme application comes before the work.

The plumbing lists cover sanitary work and heating. The card is the same business as on the German page. Most replies in Zürich, Basel and Bern come in German; in Genève and Lausanne, in French.

Words

  • Sanitär / sanitaire — plumbing
  • Heizung / chauffage — heating
  • Wärmepumpe / pompe à chaleur — heat pump
  • Wasserhahn / robinet — tap
  • Verstopfung / bouchon — blockage
  • Notdienst, Pikett / piquet — on-call note, not an arrival time
  • Offerte / offre — quote, usually after a visit

If water is running and you cannot shut the stopcock (Absperrhahn / vanne d’arrêt), say that in the first sentence. For a boiler that has stopped, say the fuel: oil (Heizöl / mazout), gas, or electricity.

Message you can send

Send the German text in Zürich, Basel and Bern. Send the French text in Genève and Lausanne. The English line is only so you know what you sent. It is not a claim that a reply will come back in English.

German

Guten Tag.

You name the address, the fault, and the fuel, and you ask for a visit. You do not ask this website to book it.

Figures that are already on the German pages

The German plumbing lists print a national hourly range of CHF 85–150. They do not print a call-out fee. For heating, ventilation, plumbing and sheet metal, suissetec’s 2026 calculation sheet sets a selling wage of CHF 114.88 per hour before VAT, from a calculated net wage of CHF 39.60 plus the published social-cost and overhead factors. Source: suissetec, Kalkulationsaufbau Lohn und Faktoren 2026. VAT at 8.1% is extra. That sheet is not a quote for your flat.

A heat-pump grant in Zürich, if you replace oil, gas or electric heating, is the cantonal 2026 programme: CHF 2,900 up to 15 kWth for air-to-water, then CHF 160 per kW; ground and water CHF 6,800 plus CHF 420 per kW. File it before work starts, at portal.dasgebaeudeprogramm.ch/zh. Basel uses /bs, Bern weu.be.ch, Geneva the Programme Bâtiments on ge.ch, Vaud the environment department on vd.ch. This site does not decide whether you get the grant.

Look the name up in Zefix. A suissetec label on a card, when one is printed, is the association’s name, kept as published, not a badge from this website.
