How to contact a painter or plasterer
Words for inside paint and a facade, what the square-metre note leaves out, and a message that asks for a visit.
Painter cards on this site mix painting and plaster (Maler und Gipser / peintre et plâtrier). The English lists use the same names and phones as the German pages for five cities.
Words
- Innenanstrich / peinture intérieure — interior paint
- Fassade / façade — facade
- Gips, Gipser / plâtre, plâtrier — plaster, plasterer
- Abdecken / masquer, protéger — masking and covering
- Untergrund / support — the surface under the paint
- Gerüst / échafaudage — scaffold, usual on a facade
The German pages place interior painting at CHF 10–28 per m² in the calculator notes. Covering furniture and a poor substrate move that more than the city name. A facade quote should say who pays for the scaffold and whether the sills are included.
Message you can send
Send the German text in Zürich, Basel and Bern. Send the French text in Genève and Lausanne. The English line is only so you know what you sent. It is not a claim that a reply will come back in English.
German
Guten Tag.
You ask for a visit and you give the address and a room count. You do not ask for a flat price over the phone.
In a rental, painting at the end of a tenancy follows the lease and the handover, not this page. See the deposit and the handover. Check the business name in Zefix if you are about to pay in advance.
